Why I do what I do

Think about […] how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. (Carl Sagan)

It is my strong believe that most people are not inherently evil. But people are always scared of what they don’t know. It has been stated many times by sociologists and anthropologists that this fear is a perfectly normal thing to feel, it’s evolutional heritage that helped our ancestors survive. But in today’s globalized and fast paced world, we are confronted with more and more unknown things every day. That is scary. Many of the world’s hatred and discrimination towards everyone “different” stems from this fear of the unknown. But if the unknown becomes known, it gets less scary and with that acceptance and tolerance rises. Racism is more prevalent in areas where little to no migrants life, and so on and so on.

there are those who would use people’s fear of the unknown to saw discordance and hate. We must not let them win

Sadly, while I said, most people are not evil, some very few are. These try to make use of people’s fears and fuel them, because they can in some way profit from the societal schisma. The most powerful weapon against these people is getting to know the unknown and find mutual respect and understanding.
In the recent past, these fascists and haters, who hide their nature behind labels like “conservative” have chosen trans people as their knew target of hate. Gender nonconforming people challenge the patriarchy with their very existence, and are also a marginalized minority without strong lobby, and thus make a welcome victim for this rightwing hate. That’s why I try to raise as much awareness and spread as much visibility for trans people as possible.

it’s important to be authentic if you want to reach people

Unlike most other bloggers or influencers, my goal is not to sell something or to make myself look especially great. Of course I wanna be an inspiration and am not free of vanity, I’ll fully admit that. But what I really want is for society to stop discrimination against all minorities and (since I’m part of it) especially trans persons. That is why I show so much of my private life in public. To make people see, being trans does not make me any more or less special than the cpolor of my skin or hair does. It is just a trait – one that leads to me being discriminated sadly – but not my personality. No two trans persons are the same. We are in all demographic groups and we are all individuals. Just humans. This is what I want to make the world see. And my way to do it is to show myself completely authentic. Not just the good sides, but also my flaws and mistakes, my problems, my weaknesses, my struggles. Because, just like my good traits, they define me as who I am, they make me human. And hopefully many who may still be hiding their true identities will follow my example and show themselves to the world, because we are all beautiful souls.
